Jose Mourinho Takes Swipe At Eden Hazard; Says Not Afraid To Drop Big Names

Jose Mourinho is not ‘The Happy One’ right now. Chelsea FC star Eden Hazard has borne the brunt of the Portuguese’s anger, after having turned in sub-par displays as the Blues made their worst start to a league season since 1971.

Chelsea FC slumped to a 2-1 home defeat to Alan Pardew’s Crystal Palace on Saturday, with Jose Mourinho criticizing the team as a whole for the poor display, whilst indicating some individuals had failed to meet his exacting standards.

The out-spoken Portuguese, rather cryptically, stated that one player had let the team down and that he blamed himself for keeping the player on the pitch for the entire 90 minutes.

Mourinho takes a swipe at Hazard

Hazard was the Chelsea FC player of the season, along with being the PFA Player of the Year last season. However, he has not really begun the season in the same manner, looking subdued and having little impact on games.

Speaking post the Crystal Palace defeat, Jose Mourinho hinted that the Belgian cannot continue his poor showing.

“If you are the best in the Premier League, I think it should be a good responsibility to have a similar season as in the previous season,” Mourinho was quoted saying by ESPN FC.

“I don’t want to analyse individual performances. When you have six or seven performing and three or four who are not [at] an acceptable level, it is difficult for a team to be consistent in the performance.”

Mourinho to make changes

.

Confirming that no one will be spared if they do not give enough to the side, Mourinho was quoted saying that he is prepared to make changes.

He said: “If you ask me, will I accept this, cross my arms, sit in a nice chair and wait calmly for the performance level to be back? No.

“I have to work, I have to react, I have to analyse and if I feel the players are not in conditions to react and give more, I have to make changes. I have never had a problem with that.”

Mourinho will now have a fortnight during the international break to analyse his side’s individual performances and revamp things ahead of what promises to be a difficult season for the Blues.
