Chelsea FC manager Jose Mourinho says he wants to sign a striker, a midfielder, and a defender this summer.
Jose Mourinho says that he will first prioritize holding onto his big name players and then wants to add competition for his Premier League title-winning squad with three additions in the transfer window.
Chelsea FC will be aided by a record A?99 million prize money received following their Premier League title success according to official figures a the most ever earned by a single club in one season.
Manchester United are expected to spend big money after posting a record breaking a 159 profit, prompting reports that they have around 200 million pound to spend on new recruitment. Arsenal FC and Manchester City also will continue to spend as they have been doing in recent windows.
“We have to improve. If we have the same team the other teams will be better than us,” Mourinho said.
“If I keep Eden Hazard, Nemanja Matic, Branislav Ivanovic, Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas – for us that’s the first target.”
“I think we need three (new) players. A striker because we lost our legend (Didier Drogba), a defender and a midfield player.”
“It will give a little bit more competitiveness to the squad, bring some new blood in, put some players a little bit under pressure. They know they have someone waiting, I need that to support my way of working.”
“Now they’re the champions I need that but basically the same squad, the same team, the same manager and stability in the club.”
Chelsea FC are on the verge of securing their first signing in ‘New Pogba’, the Swedish starlet Joseph Colley arriving to continue his development with U19s

Winger Juan Cuadrado is also heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge and Chelsea FC were keeping tabs on Pedro Rodriguez before the player signed a new contract with FC Barcelona. Chelsea still hope to collect enough funds from the sale of Cuadrado to snap up Antoine Griezmann by triggering his 43 million pound release clause.
It promises to be another interesting summer at Chelsea FC and should the club pull off half as good a business as they did last summer, they will take some stopping.
