Jose Mourinho and Diego Costa had a bit of a fallout during Chelsea FC’s match against Israeli side Maccabi Tel-Aviv in the UEFA Champions League, Mourinho stated after the match that it was solved with ‘a few kisses and a few cuddles’.
Chelsea won a 4-nil victory against Maccabi Tel-Aviv that helped their Champions League ambitions and provided a two game win streak for the beleaguered London side. Goals from Gary Cahill, Willian, Oscar and Kurt Zouma helped the club win against the whipping boys of Group G, who have not won any points in the Champions league thus far, but it was the animated discourse between manager Jose Mourinho and striker Diego Costa that made the headlines.
Costa missed a couple of clear cut chances to score in the first half and his lack of awareness and movement caused Mourinho to lash out against him and the Spanish striker replied in kind. However, after the match Mourinho played down any talk of an altercation.
a Ia d wanted him to do a certain movement that he didna t and I was disappointed,a said Mourinho, according to The Guardian. a I reacted. He did too. At half-time in the dressing room, a few kisses and a few cuddles. No problem.a
. Costa’s Disappointing Run Doesn’t Seem To Be Ending
Diego Costa has scored only 4 goals in 16 appearances for Chelsea this season and his latest goal, the one against Norwich City, was his first goal in 7 games for both club and country. This is the same striker that set the league on fire after his arrival from Atletico Madrid last year, scoring 20 goals in the Premier League.
This season has featured more of Costa’s aggressive side than his footballing ability, with him being involved in an opponent red card in the Tel-Aviv match as well. Numerous pundits have called for the striker to focus more on getting goals than getting into fights and it remains to be seen whether he’s listening.
