Chelsea FC have made a torrid start to their defence of the Premier League title, as they find themselves 16th in the table, with 8 points from 8 games. Captain John Terry has reiterated that the players are united in the crisis that has engulfed Stamford Bridge and he believes Jose Mourinho still remains the best manager in the world.

Chelsea have won just once in their last five games, having been beaten thrice in this period. Their latest defeat came when the side lost 3-1 at home to Southampton despite taking the lead through a goal from Willian.

.

Manager Jose Mourinho was furious and said that he was not afraid of being sacked, urging his players to take responsibility for their poor performances.

Terry backs Mourinho

Mourinho had also claimed that he was the best manager for Chelsea FC. The Portuguese was backed by his captain John Terry as the best manager in the world, putting any suggestions of a rift between the two to rest.

“We have a big group of players and we have the best manager, who we remain behind, and we remain together,” he was quoted as saying by ESPN FC.

“That is what you do in tough circumstances. I have been here a long time and I have seen managers come and go and if anyone is going to get us out of this hole it is going to be Jose Mourinho.”

No dressing room rift — Terry

Once a team starts losing games, a number of rumours start cropping up. Chelsea’s poor form is no exception, with rumours of a rift in the dressing room being reported in the media.

However, Captain John Terry has said that the players are together in the fight, refuting the rumors of a split in the dressing room.

He said: “The players will remain together and fight, and keep fighting for the supporters because they were excellent on Saturday.

“We are not in the familiar position we are normally in. We find ourselves in it and it is down to the group of players and the manager to get ourselves out of it and we must do that very soon.”
