Inter And AC Milan Must Merge, Says Mino Raiola

Super agent Mino Raiola has advised Inter and AC Milan to consider joining forces if they want to be able to compete again with the big guns of Europe.

The stock of both Inter and AC Milan, have fallen rapidly in past few years as both the giants have struggled to spend money in the transfer market.

Inter and AC Milan are currently 11th and 12th respectively in Serie A and, not for the first time in recent seasons, both the giants are facing the prospect of missing out on European football.

Now, super agent Mino Raiola, who has been involved in many transfer dealings of both these clubs in the past, has said that they should think about coming together and create a new, more powerful club.

Mino Raiola told La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Milan and Inter must unite. They used to be the richest clubs in the world but they never became clubs who could develop further without [Milan owner Silvio] Berlusconi or [former Inter owner Massimo] Moratti.

“London is the only city where they can afford to have several teams at the highest level nowadays. Either a wealthy Chinese person comes along, buys up all the biggest assets in the world and says, ‘I’m buying Milan and will pay to make them world champions,’ or the Milanese teams are not going to go anywhere by themselves.a

Mino Raiola, who has many high profile players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Mario Balotelli as his clients, believes that coming together of Inter and AC Milan will help them create a powerful conglomorate which will help them create a strong brand worldwide.

“The arrival of some rich Chinese will not help them forward either. The fans will continue to see two ‘half’ teams. But if both teams were to merge, you would have one club with a turnover of a 320 million rather than two clubs with a turnover of a 160m.

“Like Paris Saint-Germain are considering getting rid of the Saint-Germain addition to become FC Paris, Milan should have one club FC Milan that is recognisable across the world.”
