‘I Have Marked The Date I Play Gerrard.’ Lampard Ready To Renews Midfield Battle In MLS

Frank Lampard is already looking to renew his midfield battle with Liverpool FC legend Steven Gerrard as both players look to kick start their MLS journey.

Former Chelsea FC and Manchester City star Frank Lampard is set to make his MLS debut on Sunday against Toronto, 12 months after signing for New York City FC.

Lampard will renew his battle with England team mate and club rival Steven Gerrard who recently signed for LA Galaxy after a glittering career at Liverpool FC.

The midfield giants will meet for the first time on August 23 and Lampard, for one, cannot wait.

‘I played against Steven so many times, ita s great that he is in MLS. As soon as I saw that date I penciled it in and I cana t wait,’ he said.

‘After all those times playing for England with him and against him for Chelsea, I never envisaged this would happen. But I am pleased it has.’

New York City FC, Lampard’s club, have also added Italian and Juventus legend Andrea Pirlo to a squad already including David Villa.

“David and Andrea are at the top of the list, I’m a lucky man to be in the same squad as them,” said Lampard.

.

“It will be a pleasure to play with them every day. I think Pirlo is the best at getting his ball to dip and dive off the free-kick. He can have the first one!”

Lampard went onto add that he is in New York to win football matches and not on a holiday.

‘My friends seem to think I am holiday but I have a job to do, ‘ he added. ‘I have been watching a lot of the games in MLS and really cannot wait to get started.’
