Franz Beckenbauer, German legend and honorary Bayern Munich president, thinks that Pep Guardiola is wanted by all the best clubs in the world, but the Spaniard may just be heading to Manchester United.
The future of Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola is causing a lot of speculation and excitement in the footballing world. The Spaniard has had a stellar career as a manager both at Barcelona and at Bayern Munich and is considered one of the greatest footballing minds around.
A number of clubs across Europe are interested in acquiring Guardiola’s services, but the Spaniard seems to be set on heading to the English Premier League, with Manchester City and Manchester United the top two candidates. Bayern Munich President Franz Beckenbauer thinks that the red side of Manchester would be Pep’s no. 1 choice.
“Pep is interesting for every top club in the world,” Beckenbauer said, according to goal.com. “That’s just normal.”
“He can pick his club and in terms of popularity Manchester United might be the number one worldwide.”
Bye Bye Louis. Hello Pep.
.
The current Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal still has a season and a half to go on his contract, but from the looks of things — the wave of protest against his playing style, the Champions League exit, the bland football — he might well be out of Old Trafford sooner rather than later.
Pep Guardiola has drawn comparisons to legendary United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and both have managed some dominant football teams. If he does confirm his interest in managing Manchester United, the Red Devils should not miss the opportunity to bring him to Old Trafford, even though replacing Van Gaal will not be an easy decision to take.
