Euro 2016: Danny Ings And Two Other Players Who Can Force Their Way In England’s 23-Man Squad

England qualified for the Euro 2016 with a 100% record, winning each of their games to the top their group. With the draw set to take place in December for the big summer tournament in France, we look at the players that can force their way in Roy Hogdson’s plan.

England have one of the best leagues in the world. Despite that, the team has not won a single major tournament since winning the World Cup in 1966.

However, they keep fielding one of the strongest squads to all major tournaments and nothing less will be expected when France hosts Euro 2016.

That being said, we look at three names who can force their way into the plans of manager Roy Hogdson and can have a good impact in the games to come.

1. Danny Ings — Liverpool FC

Ings was snapped up by Liverpool FC on a free transfer. The former Burnley man rejected the chance to join Tottenham Hotspur in the process, a move that could have cost him regular first-team football. Ings, however, was not wrong about his abilities, as the forward has shown in the games he has played.

Ings has easily been the best Liverpool forward throughout this season, despite the addition of the 32m GBP man Christian Benteke. While Sturridge has been out injured, Ings has done himself no harm in claiming a regular place in Liverpool as well as England XI with his solid showings.

With his never-say-die attitude and his busy playing style coupled with brilliant movement and a good first touch along with his ability to work hard and press, put him in good stead to be a regular under new boss Jurgen Klopp who prefers players with heart as much as he appreciates good quality in his squad.

And with the German renowned for creating teams that press hard, Ings could find himself more and more in the Starting XI at Anfield, especially if he also keeps up his recent form.

This way, the forward should have no problem in finding a place in the England squad for the UEFA Euro 2016, either.

2. Danny Welbeck — Arsenal FC

England v Belgium - International Friendly

Even though Welbeck has not been in the best of forms for his club side Arsenal FC and also been out injured, manager Roy Hogdson has managed to get the best out of the forward.

Welbeck’s versatility makes him one of the most important figures in the squad for Roy Hogdson, more often than not, and his return to the squad is almost certain, provided that his form does not become absolutely abysmal with Arsenal FC.

Welbeck, alongside Raheem Sterling, Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will form the pacy quartet on the plane to France.

3. Ross Barkley — Everton FC

Everton vs Manchester City

Barkley has been one of the best midfielders in the Premier League so far. The Evertonian’s ability to hold the ball may have annoyed Roy Hogdson a few times, but the English midfielder is only going to get wiser with experience and if he continues to show the same form as he has been doing all this while, there certainly is no stopping him.

Barkley has been one of the major reasons alongside John Stones and Romelu Lukaku for Everton’s strong showing this season.

.

He has had a direct hand in the 5 goals by Everton in 8 games, making three and scoring two.

The Everton graduate can have a huge impact in the tournament if he continues to develop in the manner he has been growing over the last two years. If only he takes care of himself and does not get injured as often as he has been known to over the past two seasons.

Barkley is a special talent and it will be a big surprise if he does not make it to the squad.
