With speculation about Jose Mourinho’s future running hot, the Portuguese manager has been linked with yet another high profile job — England!

Yes, England! It is believed that Mourinho prefers to stay in England with his wife and children, and is giving priority to jobs that would allow him to stay in the country.
The Portuguese has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United especially after the Red Devils lost four matches in a row and have dropped three points behind Tottenham Hotspur on the fourth spot. He has also been linked with a move back to Real Madrid at the end of the season, with current manager Rafa Benitez’s job currently being under fire.
However, according to the Sunday People, a sister publication of the Daily Mirror, Mourinho has said to his agent Jorge Mendes that he prefers to stay in club management, but would not mind taking over the reins at England, if current manager Roy Hodgson calls it quits after the end of Euro 2016.
Hodgson’s contract issues
The England manager has a contract with the FA till the end of Euro 2016, and with age seemingly catching up on the 68-year-old Englishman, he seems to have avoided talks of a contract extension.
However, it seems that Hodgson’s contract extension might depend upon whether he can do well with the young England team in the Euro 2016 or not. With Wales Russia and Slovakia in their group, the FA are reportedly expecting at least a quarter final finish from the Three Lions.
However, if England fail to live up to the expectations in the high profile tournament, and if Mourinho is still available till then, we might just be able to see the Portuguese entering national team management for the first time in his illustrious career.
