Chelsea attacker Eden Hazard has signed a new Five-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2020.
The 24-year old has been in brilliant form this season and it was only a matter of time before he signed a more lucrative deal as consistent performances in the last two seasons have won him a lot of admirers. Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho was delighted after Hazard signed the contract and he said, “I am very happy that Eden has signed a new contract. It shows he believes in the cluba s coaching staff and players to help him become the best player in the world.
“He is already a top player and his evolution has been fantastic. He is still very young and he can become the best.”
Hazard has scored 13 goals in all competitions this season and has also set up 12 goals in addition. The Belgian told the club’s official website, “I am very happy to sign a new contract with Chelsea. Since I came here in 2012 I have always felt good and the club has been very supportive to me.
“The manager has helped me improve a lot, the fans have been fantastic and I have an amazing understanding with my team-mates.
“I always try to give pleasure to the supporters with my style of play and it is nice to know they appreciate my work.
“I hope we can repay that support by winning lots of trophies, beginning with the Capital One Cup at Wembley, and after that, we can push hard towards the end of the season.”
It was rumoured that he’ll sign a new contract that will make him the highest paid player at Chelsea. While details about his wages are not exact at the moment, him signing an extension is some good news for Chelsea fans as the former Lille man is still only 24 and has a great future ahead of him.
Having signed from Lille for a big fee of a 40 m, Hazard was tipped to be the next big thing and he has certainly lived up to that billing. As an attacker, Hazard not only possesses a goal scoring threat, but also a brilliant assists ratio. In his time at Chelsea, he has scored 43 times and has assisted 46 goals. With Diego Costa, Willian, Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic, Chelsea have a core that still has a lot of football in them. The future definitely seems bright for the Londoners.
