The Ghanaian left-back is inching closer to a move to Chelsea FC after just one year at Bundesliga outfit FC Augsburg, and reports of the defender training alone suggest the move is not far away.
Chelsea FC manager Jos Mourinho might well be nearing the end of his hunt for a new left-back following the departure of Brazilian Filipe Lu s back to La Liga side Atl tico Madrid earlier in the summer.
FC Augsburg left-back Abdul Baba Rahman has been heavily linked with the Blues all summer, with reports recently emerging that indicated that a fee had been agreed . between the German side and Chelsea FC for the permanent transfer of the 21-year-old.
Baba Rahman trains alone as Chelsea FC move nears
Although FC Augsburg have played hard-ball over the transfer fee, there is no indication of bitterness or resentment from the club hierarchy towards Baba Rahman himself. As a matter of fact, Augsburg coach Marcus Weinzierl told Germany’s kicker magazine (via ESPN FC): “I would like to continue working with all players, but when you sign someone like Baba from the second division and he’s on Chelsea’s radar 12 months later, it does make the coaching staff proud.”
Latest reports in local newspaper Augsburger Allgemeine now suggest that Baba Rahman is training alone without his team-mates to ensure that there is no risk of injury that might scupper the deal. As such, it would seem that an official announcement is not too far away.
Chelsea FC fans excited at the prospect of signing Baba Rahman
Chelsea FC fans are, by and large, quite excited about welcoming the left-back to the club – if for no other reason than that a back-up left-back was desperately needed. However, the Ghanaian’s ability to contribute to attack has not gone unnoticed, and the Stamford Bridge faithful are hopeful that he can contribute to the team going forward.
I dont know much about Baba Rahman but if Ivanovic doesnt improve, put Azpi RB and Rahman LB if hes good enough. Also swap Cahill for Zouma!

Baba’s pace will open up spaces for Eden on the left, also allowing Willian to link-up with Azpilicueta – should be deadly. #cfc

Augsburg bought Baba Rahman for A?1.8m last summer, selling him to Chelsea for A?14.1m this summer (+ A?3.5m in add-ons). Decent business.

Regardless of who started it, Baba Rahman to Chelsea looks imminently imminent!

Just watched some clips of Baba Rahman at Augsburg. Got some superb crossing skills. He will make a good Left back. Iva can now rest! #CFC

Baba Rahman will be a good signing for us. Was said when we got Luis but hopefully it’ll allow us to move Azpi over to right when needed
