Legendary striker Didier Drogba could be set for a return to Stamford Bridge for the second time, with MLS side Montreal Impact confirming that an arrangement is being discussed for the Ivorian to return to his former club
Ever since Didier Drogba attended the Blues’ 3-1 victory over Sunderland seated between new interim manager Guus Hiddink and owner Roman Abramovich, speculation has been rife about the potential return to Stamford Bridge of the Ivorian.
Although there has been no clarity as to what capacity he would join the Blues in this time around, it is believed he would assist Hiddink and act as some form of intermediary between the manager and the first-team squad.
The move from the club is extremely smart given the love and affection the Stamford Bridge faithful have for Drogba, and after the hugely unpopular decision of sacking Jos Mourinho, bringing back a legend like the Ivory Coast striker would go some way towards appeasing supporters.
Unsurprisingly, news of Drogba’s possible return for a second time has drawn excited reactions on social media from Chelsea FC fans around the globe. Here are some of the tweets highlighting just how popular this decision could prove to be:
Drogba is sitting next to Hiddink in Romans box? Please let him be involved in some capacity.

Drogba to be Hiddink’s assistant. That’s one way to win back the dressing room I suppose.

Would be fascinating to see Drogba return to Chelsea for a 3rd time albeit in a short term player coach capacity. Chelsea need his presence.
