Chelsea FC fans were in disbelief following the Blues’ second league defeat at home this season, this time to Ronald Koeman’s Southampton side, ensuring the club’s worst start to a season in nearly four decades.
There was shock, anger and disbelief among Chelsea FC fans following another desperately poor performance that resulted in another disappointing defeat for Jos Mourinho’s side this season. The Blues now have just 8 points from 8 games — their worst start to the season since 1978-79, the season in which they got relegated to the second division.
Although some blamed the usual suspects such as Branislav Ivanovi , there was a lot of anger directed at manager Jos Mourinho, who went on an incredible 7-minute rant following the defeat in his post-match interviews with TV broadcasters Sky Sports.
Most Chelsea FC fans seemingly do not want him to be sacked, but do want to see a massive improvement in their side. Many predict that he will get sacked, and that Russian owner Roman Abramovich will finally lose patience with him after what has been a shockingly poor season for the Blues.
Here are some of the best Twitter reactions following the shock result on Saturday.
I miss seeing Chelsea bully teams so much. Drogba, Essien, Lampard, Mikel, Ballack

The players have run this club since Roman took over. It’s finally time for him to back a manager over the prima donnas in the dressing room

My biggest concern is..WHY does he keep picking Branna? I am pro Jose but he should get equal blame for picking him https://t.co/KRbcJKAcst

And one last thing, if Jos continues to not pick RLC because “he doesn’t track back”, how is he picking F bregas who doesn’t do anything?

If #CFC sack Jose and suddenly things improve, players start trying again, it says more about them than the boss. That’d be a bigger issue.

The last time Chelsea lost 4 of their first 8 league games, this was the end of season table. 1978-79. Relegated. pic.twitter.com/8Hee8xCgMh

It would be foolish to sack Mourinho, but it would all be foolish and madness if Jose goes down this bizarre route of making these choices.

We’ve been here before and we’ve usually sacked managers. Sometime rightly, occasionally wrongly. Think we’d be unbelievably daft to do so

The players aren’t performing, but there’s also total systemic failure.

I would suggest that challenging Mr. Abramovitch in such a fashion isn’t the most wise approach. #CFC
