23-year-old Thibaut Courtois is the number one goalkeeper at Chelsea FC, but has been sidelined with injury since the end of August. It is being reported that he will make his return in the Blues’ game against AFC Bournemouth.
Courtois had suffered an injury during training on September 11th 2015, which ruled him out of action for 3 months and it must have been quite a trial for him to watch his team going through the worst patch of form that they’ve been in for a long time. However, according to The Telegraph, the Belgian has resumed training and is likely to be announced fit for Chelsea’s next EPL game against AFC Bournemouth.
It is expected that manager Jose Mourinho will put him in the starting XI straight away, instead of easing a return from the substitute bench, because Mourinho and the board both have immense faith in Courtois making him the undisputed first choice goalkeeper at the club.
Bad news for Begovic .
Second choice keeper Asmir Begovic was bought from Stoke City this summer and has impressed during his time between the sticks for Chelsea. In an otherwise disappointing season for the Blues so far, Begovic has kept them alive in numerous matches, pulling off some stellar saves.
The 28-year-old Bosnian has, however, probably come to grips with the fact that he will always be the second in line at Stamford Bridge, after Thibaut Courtois, and doesn’t mind warming the bench.
