Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal has been the subject of much interest, real or otherwise, from clubs all over Europe.
The Chilean was said to be closing in on a move to Arsenal but the “reports” seemed to be merely speculation and rumors.
Real Madrid have moved on to agree a five-year deal with Vidal, according to reports in Chile.
The Independent report that the drunk driving incident during the Copa America made suitors Manchester United and Arsenal cool interest in the player.
They cite Chilean newspaper La Tercera which reports that Real Madrid have “no such concerns for Vidal’s off-field antics and have moved to agree terms with the player, but are still to agree on a fee with the Italian club”.
The Chilean paper writes (via Managing Madrid): Arturo Vidal is just hours away from becoming a Real Madrid player. The midfielder just needs to sign his contract in order to join the Spanish capital. There’s an agreement between Vidal and the Spanish club, one of Vidal’s advisers told La Tercera. According to that same source, he will sign a five-year deal and a big salary. Vidal’s family assumed the deal and told La Tercera that they are “packing and getting ready to travel to Spain.”
It is unknown how true these reports are but the paper is one of the biggest in Chile. Vidal was subject of intense speculation last year as well and it seems that rumors are going to circulate around him two summers in a row.
Vidal impressed before the drunk-driving incident and is expected to feature for the hosts against Chile.
