Arsenal FC: Walcott praises Leicester, insists Arsenal can retain FA Cup

Arsenala s Theo Walcott has praised Leicester City and also insisted that the gunners can retain the FA Cup.

Walcott was all praise for his midweek opponents who were attacking a lot more than Arsenal were throughout the game.

a They were probably one of the best teams to come to the Emirates this season and they performed very positively,a Walcott told Arsenal Player. a They counter-attacked very strongly and very quickly and to be honest we were holding on.

a Our first goal came from a corner and it might not have been quite deserved because Leicester played well in patches in the first half. But we managed to take our chances when given the opportunity.

Walcott then talked about the goal that he scored which proved to be decisive in Arsenala s win over Leicester.

a For my finish, Mesut had a very good shot and Schwarzer may have thought he had dealt with it but I just hit it cleanly and sometimes they fly in and sometimes they dona t – luckily for me it went in.

a At these crucial stages in the season it is always important to get the three points and we managed to dig in and get the result. We need to move on from it now.a

Arsenal will now face Middlesbrough on Sunday in the FA Cup 5th round in their journey to retain the FA Cup they won last year. Walcott was ready for the challenge and was not going to take their Sunday opponents lightly.

a It is a great opportunity when you consider the teams that have gone out [of the competition],a he said. a But Middlesbrough will be tough, they are doing well in the Championship and they might be very similar to Leicester.

a They will be a threat, we cana t take them for granted. We need to study their game very closely because if they watched our game here they will fancy [playing] us. We have to make sure we are completely on it because it will be nice for the fans to have a Wembley trip again.a

With the Premier League seemingly out of reach, the only other competitions that Arsenal are in is the FA Cup and the Champions League. The European competition is probably a little too much to expect, with Arsene Wenger not having been successful all these years, but the FA Cup is the more realistic competition they can win. Walcott and his team mates will be certainly hoping to have another victory parade at the end of the season again.
