Arsenal FC Join Race To Land Pep Guardiola?

The Pep Guardiola saga seems to have taken a new turn now, with Arsenal FC reportedly joining the race for the Catalan manager, according to reports from the German paper Bild.

Guardiola’s contract runs out at the end of the current season, and with Bayern Munich already announcing the appointment of Carlo Ancelotti for the 2016/17 season, it is clear that the former FC Barcelona manager would be without a club from summer 2017.

Being regarded by many as one of the best managers in the world, there has been a lot of speculation over Guardiola’s future, with Manchester City being tipped as the favourites to land the Catalan’s signature. With Manchester United being in horrible form under their manager Louis van Gaal, there has been speculation that the Red Devils are also trying to bring Guardiola to Old Trafford.

Chelsea FC, who have recently sacked manager Jose Mourinho to appoint Guus Hiddink on an interim basis till the end of the season, are also said to be in with an outside chance to land Guardiola.

However, as new competitor seems to have entered the race — Arsenal FC. According to Christian Falk, the chief football reporter at German newspaper Bild, the Gunners have also joined the race to land Guardiola’s signature.

Could Guardiola be going on another sabbatical?

.

Arsenal FC manager Arsene Wenger’s contract runs out at the end of the 2016/17 season, and there has been some speculation that the Frenchman may call it curtains on his career as a football manager. While it seems impossible that the Gunners would sack Wenger (especially not with their current form), there could be a possibility that they might be looking for a possible replacement to carry on the Frenchman’s good work, should he choose to retire. And who better to do that than Pep Guardiola?

An Arsenal move after Wenger’s prospective retirement might mean that Guardiola could yet again take a sabbatical, as he did, after leaving FC Barcelona. We must wait and watch as the developments unfold.
