Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has already confirmed that he is not going to extend his contract. Arsenal and Atletico Madrid have now emerged as the potential suitors and both the clubs are set to battle for the signature of the midfielder.

Borussia Dortmund have failed to maintain the performance levels of last few years in Bundesliga this season as they are set to miss out on lucrative UEFA Champions League next year. The poor results on the pitch has caused discomfort amongst its players and Ilkay Gondogan has already made it clear that he is not going to extend his contract, which is set to expire next year.

Borussia Dortmund have made up their mind now and instead of loosing Ilkay Gundogan for free next summer, they are willing to sell him in July.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is eager to increase the depth of his midfield in the summer as many of his first team regulars spent more time on dressing table than on pitch this season.

Arsenal has spent scouts to watch Ilkay Gundogan on many occasions and they have received positive reports about the midfielder all the time.

However, Arsenal is not the only club interested in the Borussia Dortmund midfielder. Diego Simeone managed Atletico Madrid are also lining up a bid for Ilkay Gundogan.

Atletico Madrida s midfield has looked short of ideas on many occasions this season and Diego Simeone wants to sign a partner for Koke to add more creativity.

Meanwhile, reports coming from Germany and England have also confirmed the plans of Atletico Madrid and Arsenal for Ilkay Gundogan.

Daily Mail has claimed in its story that Arsenal and Atletico Madrid have made the early running while Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Manchester City have concerns about his injury record.
