Andrea Pirlo has revealed that his tears on the Olympic Stadium pitch were not because he was saying goodbye to Juventus amidst reports of a move to MLS and interest from Liverpool FC

Reports in the aftermath of the Champions League final suggested that Pirlo had been moved to tears as a result of playing his last game for Juventus before departing for MLS.

Andre Pirlo has since, denied the reports. a Were my tears a goodbye to Juventus? No, they were for the defeat,a Pirlo told Sky Sport Italia.

a It is the kind of opportunity that I will rarely get again.a

.

Pirlo has a contract with the Italian champions till next year.

Juventus director general Giuseppe Marotta also denied reports that Pirlo was set to leave the club this summer, claiming a move for Sami Khedira is to supplement, and not replace, members of the midfield of the Old Lady that have played a key role in winning the League and reaching the finals of the Champions League.

“Andrea is an icon of Italian football and has become an icon of Juventus too,a Marotta said.

“I think his tears are understandable for a player who gave us such strong emotions over the years and it’s only right he should feel those emotions too.”

Liverpool FC have been linked with a move for the Italian legend following the departure of talisman Steven Gerrard. But it now seems any move for the iconic playmaker is dead.

Marotta also rubbished rumors of exit of Carlos Tevez.

Carlos Tevez is also one of the players who is linked with a possible departure this summer with his boyhood club Boca Juniors interested in singing him.

a The desire of the player is the predominant aspect in these situations, so wea ll talk to Tevez and see what he wants to do.” Marotta said.

a I heard his agenta s comments, we have great respect for Tevez and want to keep him. We hope he wants to remain, but we must be prepared for anything.”

a He has given so much to Juventus and I hope he can continue.a
