Atl tico Madrid are close to signing Celta Vigo’s Nolito, according to various reports.

The former Barcelona and Benfica forward enjoyed quite a stellar season with Celta Vigo which also resulted him in getting a big break with Spain last year as he won his first senior cap in November.

Premier League side Everton were linked with a whopping A?13m bid for the player. But it seems that the Toffees are going to miss out on the winger as Atl tico Madrid have expressed their desire to sign the player.

.

Nolito has four years left on his Celta contract and has buy-out clause of 18 million euros, which is roughly around A?13m (Everton’s reported bid). AS report that Celta Vigo will be ready to accept a sum in the A?10m region. Atl ticoa s opening bid, according to the Spanish paper around A?7m, with add-ons based on appearances, goals scored, Champions League qualification and titles won. Perhaps Diego Simeone’s side was testing the waters with their opening bid. A sum of A?10m will help the Vigo based club part with their player.

The player himself has expressed a desire to move to the CalderA?n. Atl tico tried to sign the player last summer as well, but were left unsuccessful In an interview with AS this week, Nolito said: a Who wouldna t want to play for Atl tico Madrid?a

Nolito had an impressive 13 goals and 13 assists in the league in the recently concluded season and Simeone feels that the Spaniard could add a lot of threat on the wings for the club. The 28 year-old can play anywhere in the attack and was mostly deployed as a winger or a secondary striker last season.
