After just five months at AC Milan, Fernando Torres decided that he’ll be returning back to his boyhood club Atletico de Madrid after the La Liga holders dropped a hint that they would be interested in signing him.
The interest levels at Milan were definitely high when Torres joined them in the summer transfer window despite him being a shadow of the player he once was at Liverpool. However, after a disappointing start, the Spaniard was once again relegated to the bench, a factor that made him leave. His first goal for Chelsea came after a long 734 minutes and although he never really had the same goalscoring touch at Stamford Bridge, he said that he’ll always look back at his stint with the blues as a very successful one. He told a news conference in Dubai, “Chelsea gave me what I was looking for when I left Liverpool: trophies. I will always see [my time there] as a success because they gave me what I always wanted.”
“It gave me all the trophies I have with clubs and I was lucky enough to also win trophies with Spain. Now I hope to win them with Atletico,” he added.
