Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has admitted he has ai???no ideaai??i?? when Diego Costa will be fit.
The Brazilian-born Spain striker missed Chelseaai??i??s win against Crystal Palace on Saturday and was absent from the training session today. His boss Mourinho confirmed that Costa had aggravated his hamstring issue on international duty.
Ahead of tomorrow’s game, Mourinho told reporters: “With Diego it is the same problem. But now it is an injury, not an ‘almost injury’.It’s simple. He’s not training because he is not in the condition to do so.”
“I have no idea how long he will be out. Tomorrow he cannot play. The weekend is not important but he cannot play tomorrow.”
Mourinho expressed his dissatisfaction regarding the treatment of Diego Costa in the national camp and revealed he has spoken to only England manager Roy Hodgson this season. “In this moment, since the beginning of season, I think from all national teams, I had one phone call from Roy. That’s the only one.”
“This is the situation. He was the only one from all national teams that had personal direct contact with me. It was a private conversation. If one day I become a national coach I will do it my way. I have had so many years on this side of situation as a club manager.”
“I hope it will be 20 years time but I will be good for the clubs and take care of them and players. At this moment I am on this side of it and have to accept the way it is.”
“It hurts, it hurts. I am not happy when I give players in good conditions and get them back in bad conditions.”
Speaking about the team news, the Portuguese reported about the injuries and claimed his side were fully focussed on tomorrowai??i??s game. Mourinho said: “I don’t have Manchester United in mind, I have Maribor in mind. I don’t rest players. We have to think about this game, not the one in Slovenia in two weeks but it is important to win, yes.”
“This is not an easy group. Sporting Lisbon are a good team and playing better and better and better. Schalke are also a good team, now with Roberto Di Matteo as coach. Their motivation is high and they are a dangerous team.”
“And Maribor, in Europe, have played eight matches and had zero defeats. They did not lose against Celtic, Sporting, Schalke and when you study them see why didn’t lose.”
“We have four points so far and need seven after three games to have stability for second half of the group. Not to qualify, there is more to do, but for stability.”
