Inter owner Erick Thohir has denied that the Serie A club have been in talks with Javier Hernandez and Fernando Torres and the growing reports about the Premier League duo heading to San Siro next season.
There were reports that Inter Milan were preparing a double swoop on Manchester United as they looked to get Hernandez afterAi??already agreeing to take Nemanja Vidic from Old Trafford.
Reports suggested that Inter had spoken with the Mexican international’s father, who is also his agent, and were preparing a formal offer of around A?12million for the forward.
Hernandez has had a limited role at Manchester United this season and has been linked with a summer departure from Old Trafford. He has clearly been unhappy with him being a fringe player and he took a swipe at manager David Moyes about the lack of time on the pitch as he showed his delight at representing his country in a friendly against Nigeria:
“I am very eager to play as my club don’t take me much into account.Ai??I hope I have the opportunity to play.
“When you are called up, you have to be thankful. If not called up, you have to keep working. I am very happy and thankful with this call-up, like I was when I was called up for the first time.”
Fernando Torres is the other name which has done rounds in the transfer specualtion as the Italian side were reported to be signing the forward next season. The Spaniard has struggled to fill in his own shoes since his A?50 million move from Liverpool to Stamford Bridge and it looks like he would be heading out of Chelsea next season, with Jose Mourinho already making claims like ‘I have no strikers’. It was reported that Inter would make aAi??A?20 million bid to end Torres’ time at Chelsea.
The transfer rumors were crushed by owner Thohir who said that there has been no contact between his Serie A side and the players even though he spoke in admiration of the Manchester United player
“At the end of the season we will evaluate everything, both the young players and the more experienced ones, because we want to build a strong squad for the future with a view not just to next season but to the next three,” he told the press.
“I think Hernandez is a good player but we haven’t spoken to either him or Fernando Torres.”
Whether Inter will bid for the two forwards is a different matter, but the Serie A club would surely benefit from their addition as they look at the next season as one where they would return to the elite ranks of the country. Hernandez is a wasted talent at United and would definitely want a move as he looks unhappy with the Red Devils. Torres would surely benefit from a change of surroundings and might view this departure as one where he can make amends as he looks to get back to his old demolishing self.
