Tottenham Hotspursai??i?? visit to the KC Stadium on Sunday will be special for three former Tottenham players who now don the Hull City colours.
Michael Dawson, Tom Huddlestone and Jake Livermore gear up to host their former team, Tottenham Hotspurs at the KC Stadium as the Premier League returns to action after the International break. The trio were established faces in the Spurs squad for a number of years between them but, having fallen out of favour in London, have reinvented their careers in Yorkshire since joining Hull City.
Tottenham manager, Mauricio Pochettino, in his pre-match press conference insisted that the trio does not scare him.
He said : ai???It was not only my decision – we had a chat with Michael about the situation and we agreed the best thing for him was to join Hull.
“We were transparent with him all the way and we had a very good relationship – we always talked face-to-face, but I don’t (regret letting him go) because it wasn’t only down to me.
“It was a shared decision – between me, Michael, the club, and we decided the best thing was for him to join Hull.
“It is always sad, for the people who have been close to you for 10 years, when you part because you share a lot of emotions together.
“But this is professional football and when you decide to do something different, you need to look forward.
“Dawson chose to join Hull shortly after I arrived, while the decision to sell Livermore and Huddlestone was taken before I came here, but I am not scared of our old players at Hull.ai???
Hull boss Steve Bruce said: ai???We’ve got some ex-Tottenham players who I’m sure will want to do well against them. But I’m more interested in the whole team improving from [the defeat to Burnley].ai???
Tottenham Hotspurs, who have had a rather difficult start to the season, will be looking to turn a new leaf with this away fixture against Hull City as they historically enjoy a good record in Hull.
Spurs goalkeeper and vice-captain Hugo Lloris accepted that their defeat against Stoke in the last league game was difficult to forget but the Frenchman believes the game against Hull City can help them turn their season around.
