Chelsea FC midfielder Frank Lampard and Branislav Ivanovic have picked up injuries in their match against Liverpool and are expected to be out for a month.
Both of them have joined Ryan Bertrand and Marco van Ginkel on the side-lines and are now set to miss out on Chelseaai??i??s clash against Manchester United later this month. Ivanovic and Lampard started in the 2-1 win over Liverpool in their last home game, but the Serbian defender was replaced by Ashley Cole in the first half after picking up a knock, while Lampard was substituted at half-time.
The duo missed Chelseaai??i??s last match against Southampton and Jose Mourinho later revealed that Lampard and Ivanovic are set to miss action for a month. The England international has a muscle injury, while Ivanovic has suffered a knee injury. Chelsea will now miss them in their FA Cup clash against Derby and their next three Premier League fixtures, which includes a match against the reigning champions Manchester United at Stamford Bridge. Both of them should be fit and available for Chelseaai??i??s visit to face Manchester City in February though.
Ivanovic has been a permanent fixture at the right back this season, while Lampard has provided a goal threat from the midfield. Ivanovicai??i??s absence of course means Ashley Cole will get more game time as Azpilicueta will move to the right back role. The pivot ahead of the defence could be a cause for concern though in absence of Lampard, as neither Mikel nor Essien have been consistent this season. Ramires has been the only constant in that role in the league this season.
