The Atletico Madrid skipper admitted to his part in match fixing during his time with Real Zaragoza in Spain.
Diego Simeone just returned from his eight-match ban last night in the Champions League but his captain, Gabi, could be about to begin his. According to Mundo Deportivo, Gabi has admitted receiving money during his loan spell at Real Zaragoza but denied fixing matches with that money. Spanish anti-corruption prosecutors are investigating allegations that Zaragoza had fixed the final game of 2011 season against Levante. The match finished 2-1 with Gabi scoring both the goals and the victory ensured survival for Zaragoza at the expense of Deportivo la Coruna.

Zaragoza released a statement denying these allegations but were ready to fully co-operate with the investigators.The club released an official statement regarding this: “Real Zaragoza would like to declare that they are completely unaware of any circumstances linked to the investigations that have taken place in the wake of this fixture.At the same time, the club puts itself at the disposition of the judiciary and will collaborate on all questions that they have to ask.”
A total of 20 players have been summoned to give evidence regarding allegations that Zaragoza paid Levanteai??i??s players to throw the game. Other players involved in the game include new Manchester United signing Ander Herrera and Jefferson Montero of Swansea City. But Manchester United have denied claims that the midfielder would be quizzed on 2nd October and will remain in Manchester while trying to get fit for the clash against Everton this Sunday.
