The German international is yet to start a Premier League game this season, with only 37 minutes of action on the field, and has once again expressed his frustration.
Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski is open to leaving the club and has insisted that the situation has to change. He came close to a move away from the Emirates this summer but an injury to French international Olivier Giroud eventually prompted Arsenal to reject offers for Podolski. But the German has been afforded only 37 minutes of Premier League football and has not ruled out an exit in the January transfer window.
“I have assessed my position in the team and it has to change now,” Podolski told reporters.
“Let’s see what happens in the winter. The fact is that I’m not happy with it, that’s clear.”
During the international break Podolski met up with his former team FC Cologne prompting suggestions of a return there.
“Time fitted very well, and it was of course in my mind that we should exchange ideas. I have always stressed that the FC for me is not a club like it is for everyone else.”
“Whenever possible, I will attend the matches and remain in contact with the club. My love for FC Cologne and the city will never change.”
Earlier this month also Podolski claimed he might look to leave the club before his current deal expires in 2016.”We will have to see, It is certainly something one has to think about. I am a full-blooded player, a street player and I love competition. If I donai??i??t have that competition every weekend, then a change must occur.”
Meanwhile Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insists Podolski remains part of his plans. The Frenchman said: “It is quite simple, there is no transfer market at the moment. When there is no transfer market, you are all on board ai??i?? or not on board. It is like that.”
“This is a job where you can only be successful if youai??i??re fully committed. You cannot be half in and half out, so all this transfer speculation is not considered at all.”
“We are all on board to get results, and Podolski will be part of that.”
Juventus, Inter Milan and Wolfsburg have all been linked with the former Bayern Munich star, who has fallen further down the pecking order behind the likes of Danny Welbeck, Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez.
