Arsenal have seemingly received a boost in their pursuit of ex- Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli.
The Italian, who is presently on duty with his national side at the World Cup, has been linked with Arsenal for a considerable period of time and reports are suggestive of the fact that the striker could very well be off to the Emirates next season. It is claimed thatAi??a A?25million bid could be enough to land the AC Milan striker andAi??it has been reported that the Gunners have overtaken Monaco in the race to sign him and have submitted the requisite A?25m bid.
Balotelli has already been told that he can leave Milan in the summer following a change in management.Ai??AC Milan are keen to offload the striker as they look to ease their wage bill this summer.
Balotelli’s agent’s remarks would boost Arsenal in their pursuit of the player.

Arsenal fell short of their aspirations last season after getting off to a spectacular start that saw them being on top of the Premier League table for a long time. As the season progressed, the club’s performance started declining and the side which looked certain to win the league initially, ended up finishing fourth in the table. Along with injuries, one of the main reasons cited for this was the strikers department. Arsenal only had Olivier Giroud as their preferred starting 11 striker. The Arsenal lineup is filled with quality attacking midfielders and wingers but Arsene Wenger lacked a forward who could compliment Olivier Giroud and take some burden off his shoulders.
Balotelli seems like the perfect person to address this problem. The 23 year old is maturing off the field and is evidently becoming less temperamental. There are no second notions about his capabilities on the pitch and he would benefit to go to a club where he is guaranteed play time, a club which has ambitions and one where he could be part of the process of accumulating accolades, as the Italian clearly loves that. A return to the Premier League would also tempt the striker.
Arsenal are yet to make any summer transfer deal. There are reports that captain Thomas Vermaelen has agreed personal terms with Manchester United and might be sent to Old Trafford for aroundAi??A?10 million. The Belgian player is clearly down the pecking order with the Gunners and a move seems imminent. However, Arsenal fans are highly upset with reports suggesting that this deal could mean that Tom Cleverly might be headed to London.
