Milan CEO Adriano Galliani said Fernando Torres shouldn’t leave in January, “but the market is unpredictable.”
Torres was not even on the bench for Milanai??i??s clash with Napoli at San Siro, as he was suffering from flu symptoms. There have been growing reports the striker will be sent away just six months into a two-year loan from Chelsea.
“Will he leave in January? I donai??i??t think so, but the market is unpredictable,” Galliani told Sky Sport Italia.”We need to have patience. The lad was unlucky and needs to settle into our football. Heai??i??s very important and heai??i??ll certainly return to being player he once was.”
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho was asked if the player would be taken back, but the Portuguese insisted there was no space at the club for the current Milan player with Diego Costa, Loic Remy and Didier Drogba all joining this summer and currently there is no space in the squad for the Spanish striker.
“No,” Mourinho said, before being asked whether it was true that Milan are seeking to end the deal.
“I donai??i??t know but heai??i??s on loan for two seasons at AC Milan. Heai??i??s our player but heai??i??s on loan. We have no space for players in the list. Either in the Champions League or Premier League. Thatai??i??s an impossible picture.But I have to say, nobody from AC Milan made contact with us thinking about that possibility, so probably nothing is true and, more than possibly, heai??i??s happy at Milan and Milan to have him.”
Reports emerged that Chelsea would be willing to move him on for free if Milan did cancel his deal, however reports in Spain have suggested Rodgers would be open to bringing him back to Anfield. Liverpool have struggled this season after losing Luis Suarez and with Daniel Sturridge out injured. They bought Divock Origi in the summer, but sent him back to Lille for this season, and Mario Balotelli has not scored in the Premier League so far. Torres was sensational for Liverpool, before his A?50m move to Chelsea but hasn’t been able to recapture his form since, where he actually became one of Europeai??i??s top 3 strikers. The Spaniard spent three and a half seasons with Liverpool and went on to score 81 goals in all competitions for the Reds. While a return seems unlikely at this point it is not completely out of question as well.
