Rumour has it that Mario Balotelli might leave for Chelsea in January.
A recent run of poor form for the Italian striker has given rise to rumours that he may be on his way out of AC Milan. And Chelsea is thought to be his destination, with Jose Mourinho keeping tabs on the player he managed at Inter Milan over three seasons ago. Balotelliai??i??s agent Mino Raiola claims that a move to Chelsea would be on the cards following interest from West London coinciding with a poor run of form for Balotelli.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho does not enjoy the best relationship with the unpredictable Italian, but is thought to be on a lookout for a quality striker in spite of an improvement in current Chelsea strikers Fernando Torres and Samuel Etoai??i??oai??i??s performances recently. Mourinho however is looking for a forward who can supply him with goals on a regular basis and the 23 year old Balotelli fits the bill.
According to Balotelliai??i??s agent,
“Balotelli and [Chelsea boss] Jose Mourinho could be reunited because they know each other and they didn’t leave each other with hate,” Raiola is quoted as telling TikiTaka on Italia 1.
“There was a not very nice incident between them, but they parted company on good terms. They have remained in contact and there is mutual respect.
“Balotelli to Chelsea could happen because Balotelli is a great striker, but Galliani doesn’t want it.”
AC Milan will understandably resist any interest in their striker, who arrived at the San Siro following a 19 million pound move from Manchester City in January. Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri has asserted his wish to keep Balotelli a Rossoneri:
He said at a news conference: “I have absolutely no fear of losing Balotelli in January.
“He is a Milan player who is now living in a time when he’s not playing well, but it can happen.”
Balotelli undoubtedly has the quality to walk into the Chelsea starting line-up and there is no questioning his ability. However, he yet does not possess the composure or maturity to turn out consistent performances for the club at the highest level ai??i?? a task expected of a Chelsea starting forward. It would be more in Chelseaai??i??s interests to look to their striker Romelu Lukaku, who is on loan at Everton, for their striker answers.
Lukaku has started to show the kind of ability many predicted he would have when they compared him with Didier Drogba. Lukaku himself has shown his quality during his loan spell at West Brom last season and now at Goodison Park. Mourinho would do well to include the Belgian forward in his plans than to go after Balotelli, who is unpredictable and has shown in the past that he cannot be depended upon at times. Mourinho himself tolerated very little of Balotelliai??i??s antics during his reign at Inter Milan, and would be keeping his eyes on the Italy striker with furrowed brows.
