Manchester City makes Van Persie No. 1 target
According to the The Daily Mirror Manchester City are desperately looking to sign Robin van Persie
THT Verdict: Likely
With Robin van Persie refusing to sign a new contract rumours are bound to fly around. Arsenal have already bolstered their striking options with the signings of Giroud and Podolski and might look to cash in their star player when his value is at his highest.
Manchester City look set to lose Tevez and Dzeko and Mancini is keen to make quality additions upfront. The transfer price is likely to be huge but this will not to be a stumbling block for Manchester City. This deal looks quite possible and Arsenal fans may just have to bear the sight of the Dutch ace in the blue of Manchester.
Chelsea close to signing Jovetic
According to The Daily Mail, Chelsea are close to agreeing a deal with Fiorentina’s Stevan Jovetic.
THT Verdict: Unlikely
Chelsea have been very active in the transfer window thus far and have already signed the likes of Marko Marin and Eden Hazard. Both players can play out wide but are equally adept at playing just behind the striker. With Drogba leaving, Chelsea would be looking to sign an out and out centre forward rather than Jovetic.
Fiorentina are reluctant to lose one of their most influential players and are reportedly holding out for a fee of $25 million which should put off the Blues. This deal looks unlikely.
Seedorf off to LA Galaxy
Skysports claims veteran AC Milan midfielder Clarence Seedorf is on his way to LA Galaxy.
THT Verdict: Likely
After 10 years of service to the Rossoneri, Clarence Seedorf is set to follow the footsteps of some other footballing greats like Beckham and Henry by moving to the United States. Seedorf is one of the few footballers who can do justice to the claim “been there, done that” and a move to LA Galaxy would present a new challenge for the Dutchman.
LA Galaxy have a history of attracting talent and it remains to be seen if a contract which is acceptable to both parties can be thrashed out. Clubs such as Botafogo from Brazil are also interested and there are also rumours of interest from China. LA Galaxy however seems to be the likely destination.
Chelsea set to move for Lucas Piszczek
According to Metro, Roberto di Matteo has put Polish defender Piszczek on top of his right back list.
THT Verdict: Wait and Watch
Chelsea are in need for a right back following Bosingwa’s exit and have apparently set aside $ 15 million for the transfer. Piszczek had done well in Poland’s Euro 2012 campaign and was impressive in his runs down the right flank. Chelsea are on the lookout for an attacking full-back who would suit their style of play and the Dortmund player seems to be perfect for the role.
However, it remains to be seen what price Dortmund would be willing to accept or if they would like to sell one of their prized assets at all. Expect more on this story on this in the coming days.
