Welcome to the 3rd edition of THT European Digest, where we bring you all the highlightsAi?? across the top European leagues for the month of November.
This month league football was again interrupted by an International break, but when normalcy returned we were treated to some sparkling football action. In between all this great actions, fans across the world have had to deal with two heartbreaking news, the sad and untimely departure of first Gary Speed and then Brazilian legend Socrates. The game has moved on though, it always has.
Here is a look at the best matches from all the top leagues for the month of November.

Match Of The Month ai??i?? Portuguese Primeira Liga
S.L.Benfica Vs. Sporting Clube de Portugal (1-0)
On match-day 11 of the Portuguese league, Benfica and Sporting faced each other in the Lisbon derby, with the hosts, joint leaders with FC Porto, holding a one point advantage over a resurgent Sporting side who had won seven league matches in a row. It turned out to be the most even derby in recent years, with both teams creating chances in the first half and having alternated spells of dominance. Around the 40th minute, Javi Garcia opened the scoring for Benfica with a header from a corner kick in what would turn out to be the decisive moment of the match.
The game remained tight in the second half and Sporting created some chances to equalize, namely through Elias and Ricky Van Wolfinskel, but Benfica managed to hold on to their lead despite playing with 10 men in the last 25 minutes. Watch the highlights here.

Stade Rennais FC Vs. Evian TG FC (3-2)
Stade Rennais welcomed Evian at the Route de Lorient stadium on week-15 of Ligue 1. The home team got off to a wonderful start as Julien Feret scored a breathtaking solo goal in the 10th minute of the match. Feret went past four defenders before chipping the goal keeper Bertrand Laquait. Evian replied back immediately with a beautiful goal of their own. Yannick Sagbo teed up Cedric Barbosa, who scored with a thumping left foot drive from the edge of the box. Then the visitors went ahead against the run off play after Daniel Wass scored in the 32nd minute.
Bertrand Laquait was brilliant in goal for Evian and thwarted the home team’s attack time and again with some excellent saves. Rennais got the goal they deserved in the 77th minute as Hadji scored one of the cheekiest goal this season. Hadji who was lying on his back inside the box after he was challenged by a defender, took advantage of a mix-up between the goal-keeper and the defender as he executed a ‘bicycle kick’ while he was still on the ground. It was improvisation at its best. The action didn’t end there, as Rennais won a penalty in the 87th minute. Feret stepped up and scored his 2nd goal of the match, which turned out to be a winner. Match Of The Month ai??i?? Scottish Premier League
Dunfermline Athletic FC Vs. Aberdeen (3-3)
East End Park was the venue where The Pars hosted Aberdeen. It was a bottom of the table clash which turned out to a very entertaining one to say the least. The opening goal of the match came in the 2nd minute of added time at the end of the first half. Andrew Considine broke the dead lock as he headed home a Rob Milson corner.
Dunfermline equalized just nine minutes into the second half. Paul Wilis’s corner was met with a powerful header from Keddie, Aberdeen’s goalkeeper Gonzalez made a fine save only for Barrowman to score from the rebound. Just eight minutes after this, the home team were ahead for the first time in the match after Graham scored with a powerful right footed shot. The Pars could hardly believe their luck as they went ahead by two goals in the 69th minute. Substitute Buchanan scored with his first touch of the match, after Boyle’s shot was blocked by Gonzalez.
The drama continued as Keddie scored an own goal in the 81st minute from a Milsom corner. That was the lifeline that the visitors needed as they showed character to draw level just seven minutes after this. Magennis took advantage of a poor control by Mason, and drove home the from 16 yards out. It was a wonderful comeback by Aberdeen, who looked down and out after Buchanan’s goal.

Lowly placed Getafe stunned mighty Barcelona at home, as Real Madrid went 6 points clear at the top after this shock result.

European Player Of The Month
Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid)
This month’s European player award goes to the irresistible Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese man has been in scintillating form this season so far scoring goals left, right and center. Ronaldo started of this month with a wonderful hat-trick as Real Madrid demolished Osasuna 7-1. He followed that up with an important goal against Valencia, where Real Madrid edged their opponents 3-2.
Ronaldo rounded of the month with another superb display in the Madrid derby, he scored twice, provided an assist and hence won his second Man-of-the-match award of the month. Real Madrid’s dominance in the league and Europe this season has been mainly down to Ronaldo and Di Maria’s excellent form. Enjoy this video of Ronaldo’s goals against Osasuna.
