Match Preview: Wenger’s Men Ready to Burn ’em Down

ARSENAL
v
BURNLEY
The Emirates Stadium, London

A total of thirty five points separate title aspirants Arsenal and the team lying one place off the bottom, Burnley. Wenger’s men will consider this a home banker but Burnley have enough in their locker to demoralise the hosts’ title challenge.

Burnley
Current Position: 19th, 23 points
Current Form: LLWLLL

Burnley are yet to score three points on the road this season. In fact, they have picked up only one draw all season in their away matches. Their last game was a defeat to bottom side Portsmouth and Arsenal away is not a fixture they would have wanted to get back on track in the league.

The Clarets will have a lot of hope on their experienced midfielder Graham Alexander, who is back from an injury.

Arsenal
Current Position: 2nd, 58 points
Current Form: DLLWWW

The best way to get off the distraction of Ramsey’s injury is to get onto their home turf and decimate a low on confidence Burnley side. Arsenal won’t be risking Sol Campbell who would be required in the Champions League later in the week.

Experienced Frenchman Mikael Silvestre will partner Vermaelen in the center of Arsenal’s defence. On the injury front, the gunners have good news in the form of the availability of key playmaker Andrei Arshavin, solid defensive midfielder Abou Diaby and the unswerving Brazilian Denilson. Alex Song won’t be featuring in the next two matches as he is serving a ban.

TheHardTackle’s FLASHBACK
Burnley 1-1 Arsenal
Arsenal found it really hard at Turf Moor as they failed to capitalize on an early strike by Cesc Fabregas. Alexander’s penalty just before the half-hour mark leveled things for Burnley. Arsenal failed to score from clear-cut chances in that chilly night at The Moor and the match ended in a stalemate.

TheHardTackle’s MATCH PREDICTION
Arsenal 3-0 Burnley
Arsenal can go ahead of Chelsea if they can secure a win since the latter won’t be playing league this weekend. This is also the perfect game for the gunners to look for a clean sheet and boost his confidence. It will be pleasing to the eye but will end up being a confidence booster for the gunners ahead of their champions league clash in midweek.

TheHardTackle’s PLAYER TO WATCH OUT FOR
Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal)
Arsenal’s inspirational playmaker has already scored 13 goals this season in the league – his best stats ever. His tremendous eye for a pass and elegant movement will help his colleagues to perform at a level higher than expected of them.
