Manchester United have reportedly made a fresh proposal to Ajax for top target Antony, with the new bid worth €90 million.
According to De Telegraaf, Manchester United are in line with Ajax’s demands with a new €90 million bid for priority target Antony. The final fee could be slightly more than the latest proposal, excluding bonuses, with the Red Devils growing in confidence over getting the deal for their priotiy target over the line.
Manchester United continue their push to complete a move for priority target Antony after new developments in pursuing the Brazilian winger. Ajax maintained the longest time that the player was not for sale but remained open to offers that matched their asking price.
Ajax lost manager Erik ten Hag and defender Lisandro Martinez to Manchester United in the summer, which has dented their hopes of retaining the Eredivisie title. They may have hoped to keep hold of Antony, who the Red Devils have been chasing all summer.
So far, Ajax have stood firm, although they are believed to be open to offers over €100 million. They recently rejected multiple proposals from Manchester United, with the latest bid being worth €80 million.
At a stage last week, the Manchester United board were unwilling to pay more, but they have softened their stance. The Red Devils are now pushing to complete a move after somewhat cooling their interest in alternative target Cody Gakpo from PSV.
Manchester United have submitted a new €90 million offer to Ajax, which may have come closer to the Dutch club’s valuations. The report suggests that the final fee could be around €95 million, excluding bonuses. This would be a massive outlay for the 22-year-old, whose only real experience in Europe has come in the Eredivisie apart from a handful UEFA Champions League outings.
Meanwhile, Daily Mirror has reported that Antony has handed in a transfer request to force a move to Manchester United. The Brazilian winger has been keen on reuniting with ten Hag and is keen on playing at Old Trafford.
Antony has not been training with the team since last Friday and was not in the group to play Sparta Rotterdam, which more or less confirms the news from the British paper. And so, Ajax may accept Manchester United’s latest proposal.
Personal terms are also reportedly agreed with Antony and are not necessarily considered an enormous problem for either party. Manchester United will hope for a significant push to complete the transfer of their priority target imminently, and Antony’s latest request puts Ajax in a difficult position.
