Chelsea have reportedly offered a sum of £15 million plus Marcos Alonso to sign Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer.
According to The Athletic, Chelsea have submitted a bid worth £15 million plus offered Marcos Alonso in exchange to secure the services of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona.
Aubameyang joined Barcelona only seven months ago, late in the January transfer window. Having arrived from Arsenal on a free transfer, the 33-year-old soon became a key part of the team at Camp Nou, finishing as Barcelona’s joint-top goalscorer for the season. But with Robert Lewandowski arriving, he has dropped down the pecking order.
Chelsea are in desperate need of a new striker after parting ways with Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner and have identified Aubameyang as their top target, with manager Thomas Tuchel pushing for the veteran forward’s signing. Talks between Barcelona and Chelsea over a deal have been progressing well, resulting in the Blues lodging an offer for the striker.
As per the report, Chelsea have offered a sum of £15 million for Aubameyang, while also offering Marcos Alonso to Barcelona as part of the deal. The Catalans have been heavily linked with a move for the Spanish left-back and are even believed to have agreed personal terms with him.

However, Barcelona and Chelsea have been unable to reach an agreement over a transfer fee for Alonso so far. The 31-year-old does not feature in manager Thomas Tuchel’s plans, with Chelsea already signing a replacement in the form of Marc Cucurella. The Spanish international has been excluded from the matchday squad in the first two matches of the season.
Barcelona have no experienced backup for Jordi Alba in the left-back position, and with youngster Alejandro Balde likely to move on loan, they could do with another player in the role, which has made Alonso a key target for them. And Chelsea are hoping to use him as a makeweight in the deal to sign Aubameyang.
The report adds that talks over personal terms between Aubameyang and Chelsea should not be an issue, with the striker open to moving to Stamford Bridge if he is forced out of Camp Nou due to Barcelona’s financial situation. What remains to be seen is whether Barcelona find the offer from Chelsea acceptable or demand a larger sum for the veteran goalscorer.
