La Liga club Real Sociedad will reportedly look to secure the services of 21-year-old Real Madrid prospect Takefusa Kubo this summer.
According to a report by Spanish publication AS, Takefusa Kubo is the subject of interest from Real Sociedad over a possible move in the summer transfer window. La Real will hope to secure the services of the Real Madrid prospect at the third time of asking, with Los Blancos knocking back their previous two requests.
Takefusa Kubo has endured a frustrating three years since joining Real Madrid from FC Tokyo in July 2019. A former member of Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, the 21-year-old had a lot of hype surrounding him when he moved to the Santiago Bernabeu. But Kubo has had to go through the grind by embarking on four loan spells in the last three years.
The Japanese international spent last season on loan at RCD Mallorca, who signed him for the second time in the 2021 summer transfer window. Following the culmination of his latest temporary stint away from Real Madrid, Kubo’s prospects do not look like improving, with Vinicius Jr. yet to vacate a non-EU spot.
So even if Carlo Ancelotti rates Kubo highly, he might not be able to establish a foothold in the Real Madrid first-team squad next season despite the uncertainties surrounding the future of Marco Asensio. And Kubo’s next destination could be Real Sociedad, who will look to secure his services at the third time of asking.
Real Sociedad first showed interest in Kubo two years ago before Real Madrid shipped him out to another La Liga club, Villarreal. La Real returned with another loan offer last summer, with Real Madrid open to sending him to San Sebastian. But Kubo opted to rejoin RCD Mallorca instead.
Roberto Olabe, Real Sociedad’s director of football, is an admirer of Kubo’s talent and is hoping to be third time lucky in his pursuit. Recent reports have claimed that Real Madrid could consider selling Kubo, but the Basque club will look to sign the 21-year-old prospect on loan for the 2022/23 season.
With the 2022 FIFA World Cup less than six months away, Kubo might look favourably towards joining Real Sociedad. With Mikel Oyarzabal on the sidelines due to a long-term injury, Adnan Januzaj leaving as a free agent and Portu returning to Getafe, the Japanese international will fancy his prospects at the Reale Stadium.
