Real Madrid might have taken a step towards securing the services of Kylian Mbappe, with Paris Saint-Germain reportedly ending hopes of keeping him.
According to a report by ESPN, Kylian Mbappe is one step closer to completing a Bosman move to Real Madrid in the summer transfer window. Newly-crowned Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain have ended hopes of retaining the services of the French international, who will soon leave as a free agent.
Kylian Mbappe has made significant progress in his short career to establish himself as one of the best players in the game. The 23-year-old only burst into the limelight around half a decade ago but has gone from strength to strength with each passing season, becoming a talismanic figure for Paris Saint-Germain since arriving from AS Monaco in August 2017.
Mbappe has enjoyed a brilliant 2021/22 season, amassing 36 goals and 26 assists in 45 outings for PSG in all competitions. But Les Parisiens have been scrambling to keep hold of the Frenchman beyond the summer transfer window, with his contract running out next month and Real Madrid hot on his trail.
Real Madrid wanted to sign Mbappe for an eye-watering nine-figure sum last summer, but PSG defiantly kept hold of the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner in the hopes of somehow securing his long-term future. But Mbappe has shown little inclination towards signing a new contract with the Ligue 1 heavyweights, with Real Madrid making him their priority target.
While Karim Benzema and Vinicius Jr. have been sensational for Real Madrid this season, Los Blancos can transform the offensive unit further by adding Mbappe to the squad. And to secure the services of the young forward in a Bosman move, the Merengues recently met his family.
It looks like the meeting did the trick as personal terms have become a mere formality. And Mbappe seems to have moved one step closer to securing a Bosman move to Real Madrid, with PSG ending hopes of retaining his services beyond the summer transfer window.
The development comes as a boost for Real Madrid, as signing Mbappe has become a formality unless things take a dramatic turn. So despite PSG’s efforts to keep hold of their prized asset, the 23-year-old is destined to complete a dream move to Real Madrid, who will soon land their priority target.
