Newcastle United are reportedly interested in Ibrahim Sangare, valued at €40 million by PSV Eindhoven, as Eddie Howe plans a solid summer transfer window.
According to Eindhovens Dagblad, as relayed by Sport Witness, Ibrahim Sangare has emerged as a target for Newcastle United in the summer. There is considerable interest in the PSV Eindhoven midfielder, who has a €40 million release clause in his contract, from other Premier League clubs.
Ibrahim Sangare has made a big impression with his performances for PSV Eindhoven this season, playing an incredible 49 games across all competitions. The midfielder has been an ever-present feature in the two seasons he has spent in the Eredivisie, which is a testament to his quality and fitness.
Sangare’s performances have been top-notch this season, enabling PSV to challenge for the Eredivisie title, although they narrowly missed out on the crown to arch-rivals AFC Ajax. And the midfielder, after enjoying a fine campaign, could move on to bigger and better things in the near future.
Sangare had been a target for Newcastle United in the January transfer window, but PSV reportedly rejected the Magpies’ advances. The reported reason was the transfer fees, as the Dutch giants wanted more than the Magpies offered. Crystal Palace have since entered the chase and could look to place a bid in the summer.
Chelsea are also interested in Sangare, but Newcastle United are emerging to be a realistic destination for the summer. The Magpies will have funds for valuable additions in the coming window as they prepare for an important season with ambitions to finish in the top six.
Their recent victory over Arsenal showed what they are capable of, and fans may have seen a glimpse of life in the next campaign under Eddie Howe. Newcastle will know key additions can elevate their quality, and thus remain interested in progressive talents like Sangare.
However, PSV will not look to negotiate with clubs as they seek the full value of his reported €40 million release clause. The Dutch side certainly want that amount, especially if the interested parties are from the Premier League.
Leicester City are also reportedly interested in Sangare, and if the Foxes are serious, there could be a transfer tussle for the 24-year-old PSV midfielder. As the season ends and the summer transfer window approaches, there could be more clubs coming into the equation for Sangare, as his release clause is certainly attainable for several Premier League outfits.
