Premier League giants Chelsea are reportedly set to reopen talks with Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele over a Bosman move this summer.
According to a report by 90 min, Chelsea are ready to rekindle their interest in Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele. The Frenchman has enjoyed a resurgence under manager Xavi Hernandez but is yet to sign a new deal with the Catalan giants.
Dembele was the subject of interest from Chelsea in the January transfer window, along with Paris Saint-Germain, but a move did not materialise. The Blues were reportedly leading the race to sign the Barcelona forward this summer, but sanctions imposed on Roman Abramovich derailed their pursuit.
The west London giants are now set to renew their interest in Dembele, with the Todd Boehly-led consortium set to take over as the new owners. Chelsea are set to enter the transfer market again following the arrival of new owners and will step up their pursuit of the Barcelona forward.
The Blues are reportedly hopeful that the 25-year-old prefers a move to Stamford Bridge, but they are not the only side interested in his signature. Paris Saint-Germain have maintained their interest from January, while Bayern Munich have also entered into discussions with Dembele’s entourage, the report claims.
Barcelona, while trying to convince the winger to extend his stay, have resigned to the fact that they cannot match the terms on offer from interested clubs, although Dembele might be willing to accept a wage cut. However, the Catalan giants could be looking at a summer departure of the former Borussia Dortmund forward.
The 25-year-old has been one of Barcelona’s best players in the second half of the season. He has taken his tally to two goals and 13 assists across all competitions. Dembele also leads the La Liga assists chart with one game left to play in the league season.
The Frenchman has made 149 appearances for Barcelona since joining them from Dortmund in 2017 in a big-money move. Dembele has scored 32 goals and provided 34 assists for them but now looks set to leave on a free deal this summer, with Chelsea hoping to land him.
