Rafael Leao could cost €70 million in the summer, with Manchester City the latest team to join the queue of suitors.
According to Calciomercato, Manchester City could be vying for Rafael Leao in the summer, as the Portuguese winger’s future remains uncertain at AC Milan. The left-sided attacker will reportedly cost €70 million if the Premier League side wishes to make an approach.
Rafael Leao has seen his stock rise at AC Milan after impressive performances over the last two seasons. He has had a stellar 2021/22 campaign with the Rossoneri, as he has helped them climb to the top of the Serie A standings.
Milan are two points clear of Inter Milan currently, and Leao’s contribution of nine goals and five assists has been crucial. He has netted 12 goals across all competitions, attracting interest from many clubs across the continent.
Arsenal were reportedly interested in the past, while Liverpool have been linked to him recently. According to his agent Jorge Mendes, there could be some offers from the Premier League.
Leao has no problems remaining at San Siro, although wants AC Milan to better their current offer worth €4.5 million per season. Mendes has reportedly warned the club he may leave if a suitable proposal arrives, especially from Premier League sides.
There were whispers of interest from Barcelona, although now Manchester City’s supposed likeness of the player could turn his head. Pep Guardiola has a strong stable of attackers, although an addition could be possible to the left-side if Raheem Sterling departs.
Sterling will enter the final year of his deal and could be in a position where he could depart. Incidentally, AC Milan are interested in the England international, although the winger may move to a bigger club than the San Siro outfit.
Leao could be seen as a viable replacement for Sterling should the Englishman decide to move on in the summer. However, in such a case Milan will reportedly seek €70 million from suitors for the 22-year-old. This may not be an issue for Manchester City, but they are also planning to invest heavily in Erling Haaland in the summer, which could make things tricky.
It remains to be seen if the interest from Manchester City in Leao is genuine or whether Mendes is drumming things up to get a better contract for his client from AC Milan this summer.
