Serie A giants AC Milan are reportedly interested in signing Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling in the summer transfer window.
According to Daily Mirror, Manchester City attacker Raheem Sterling is on AC Milan’s wishlist for the upcoming summer transfer window. The Serie A giants are preparing for a potential takeover worth £850 million and have identified Sterling as a high-profile target.
The former Liverpool star has fallen down the pecking order recently at Manchester City. But that has not affected his returns, as he continues to contribute with goals and assists. This season, the English international has scored ten Premier League goals and provided four assists in 25 appearances.
Sterling moved to Manchester City in 2015 in a £44 million deal following a contract stand-off with Liverpool. He was given a starting role from his first season with the Cityzens and has since played an integral role in their dominance of English football.
In seven seasons since, the 27-year-old has scored 128 and assisted 93 goals for Manchester City in 332 appearances across competitions. The English international has grown into one of the world’s best winger and was even courted by the likes of Real Madrid.
Sterling scored more than 15 league goals in three consecutive seasons between 2017 and 2020. His best campaign in a Manchester City shirt came in the 2017/18 season when he scored 18 and assisted 15 goals in the Premier League for them.
The 27-year-old has had trophy-laden seven years at the Etihad. He has won three Premier League titles, an FA Cup and five EFL Cup titles with the club and could add another league title to his kitty if things go according to plan for the Citizens.
With the emergence of Phil Foden, Sterling has also been used as a false nine by manager Pep Guardiola in the absence of an out-and-out striker. But with his game-time gradually decreasing, the English international is looking for greener pastures. Barcelona continue to retain an interest in Sterling, with the winger now also wanted in Serie A.
AC Milan have emerged as a potential suitor for the 27-year-old. With the Rossoneri lacking quality in the wide-attacking slots apart from Rafael Leao, the former Liverpool man can be a good signing at San Siro. But with more than a year remaining on his contract with City, Sterling is currently focused on winning the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League this season before taking a decision on his future.
