Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are reportedly among the clubs in contact with Juventus star Paulo Dybala over a summer transfer.
According to 90min, Paulo Dybala is open to leaving Juventus in the summer transfer window when his contract expires. A host of top clubs across Europe, including Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United, are negotiating with his agent over a potential Bosman move at the end of the season.
Dybala has been with Juventus for almost seven years now, having arrived from Palermo in 2015. The Argentine international has largely enjoyed a successful spell in Turin, barring the last couple of seasons when his form had dipped alarmingly. He has also had to play second-fiddle to Cristiano Ronaldo.
This term, Dybala has recovered his form and has been Juventus’ best player when fit and available. However, his future at the club beyond the ongoing campaign is uncertain owing to his contract situation. The 28-year-old’s current deal expires in four months, and talks over a new deal have not gone smoothly.
Dybala was close to agreeing an €8 million-a-year deal with the Bianconeri towards the end of last year. However, due to his poor injury record, the Italians changed the terms of the contract late in the discussions, leading to the Argentine pulling out of negotiations. It has since emerged that the ex-Palermo ace would be willing to move on from Turin on a free transfer.
Recent reports have indicated that the forward’s representatives have been offering him to top clubs across Europe. Now, it is being claimed that many of those clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United, are in talks with Dybala’s camp over a possible summer transfer.
Arsenal need to bolster their attacking unit as they bid adieu to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January. They are also likely to lose Alexandre Lacazette in the summer when his contract expires. Furthermore, question marks persist over the future of Nicolas Pepe, necessitating the signing of a top forward.
As for Chelsea, they are being linked with signings in the attacking third despite the wealth of options at Thomas Tuchel’s disposal. Romelu Lukaku’s struggles since returning to Stamford Bridge have led to speculation over his future, while Christian Pulisic could also be on his way out, having already been linked with an exit in January. It could open up a space for someone like Dybala to come in.
Manchester United, meanwhile, will have to contend with the departure of Edinson Cavani as his contract runs out in the summer, while Cristiano Ronaldo’s form has nosedived in 2022, leading to more concerns. With Mason Greenwood suspended indefinitely, the Red Devils will need to bring in a top forward in the summer, making Dybala a viable target.
Apart from these three sides, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur are also in dialogue with the Argentine’s representatives, with the Lilywhites even believed to have submitted an offer. However, the report adds that the Premier League clubs still believe that Dybala might sign a new contract with Juventus.
