Inter Milan want to sign Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus next summer, as the Serie A champions plot a long-term strategy to boost their attack.
According to Calciomercato.it, Inter Milan are interested in Gabriel Jesus becoming their long-term striker at the club and could make a bid in the summer window to prise the Brazilian away. Manchester City may not stand in the way of an exit if they receive a reasonable offer to their liking for their versatile forward.
The next transfer window is primed to see multiple strikers moving clubs. Plenty of notable players are tipped to move away from their current teams, with so many teams preparing changes to their frontline. Inter Milan are already planning for life after Lautaro Martinez, who could depart San Siro in the summer.
Martinez is courted by the likes of Manchester City and their Premier League rivals, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United. Despite signing a new contract earlier this season, the Argentine could be sold if Inter Milan are approached with financially attractive offers.
Currently bogged down by financial issues, the Nerazzurri could have to part ways with the 24-year-old much like they did with Romelu Lukaku last summer. And they now want Gabriel Jesus to replace Martinez if he departs.
Jesus will have 18 months left on his deal with Manchester City in the summer. With Pep Guardiola plotting to sign a big-name striker in the next window, it may be time for Jesus to move on.
During his time at Palmeiras, Inter Milan were interested in Gabriel Jesus, only for Manchester City to pip them in the chase. The Serie A giants ended up signing his compatriot Gabigol, a move that proved disastrous for the Nerazzurri.
Even though he is a traditional No. 9, Jesus has taken up a different role at Manchester City this season. The Brazilian has played as a false-nine and on the wings, registering six goals and nine assists in all competitions. At Inter, the 24-year-old could be deployed as a pure forward, in a role currently taken up by Martinez.
It remains to be seen what sort of transfer fee Manchester City will demand for their Brazilian striker. On paper, Inter could be an interesting switch for Jesus. However, if he is made available for a transfer, clubs from the Premier League could also come forward, with Newcastle United already showing interest in him in the past.
