Everton are reportedly interested in signing Conor Gallagher in the summer, with Frank Lampard likely to use his influence with Chelsea.
According to TEAMtalk, Frank Lampard is invested in the idea of bringing Crystal Palace star Conor Gallager to Everton next season. The midfielder, currently on loan at Crystal Palace, could evaluate his position at Chelsea when his temporary spell ends.
Conor Gallagher has been a sensational signing for Crystal Palace, joining the London side. His form has yielded seven goals and three assists this season, earning him plaudits for his contribution to the progress that the Eagles have made under Patrick Vieira.
Thomas Tuchel considers the midfielder integral to Chelsea’s future, with the German tactician keen on integrating Gallagher into the team next season. While Crystal Palace are surely expected to explore signing him permanently, Chelsea’s price tag might surprise them.
Moreover, Gallagher is expected to attract eyeballs from multiple clubs if he becomes available. Either way, the midfielder is set to have a bright future, with Chelsea or away from the club. There has been interest from PSG and Barcelona previously, although the England international is likely to stay put in the country.
Everton are one of the clubs that have emerged as an interested party in recent days, with new manager Frank Lampard the main factor behind their drive to sign the 22-year-old. The former Chelsea boss knows the midfielder closely from his time at Stamford Bridge.
Lampard has made a mixed start to his Everton reign with the club languishing in the bottom half of the table. Their weekend loss to Southampton certainly puts the Toffees into a difficult spot, but there have been signs of some progress since the former Chelsea boss took over.
During the January transfer window, the Merseysiders managed to sign Donny van de Beek (loan) and Dele Alli in midfield positions. Lampard remains interested in revamping Everton’s style and hence wants a player of Gallagher’s quality to come in next season.
The report suggests Lampard could use his influence with Chelsea and open talks with the Blues for Gallagher’s potential transfer. The Everton boss’s presence could allow the Toffees to have a good position in negotiations, although the final decision will remain with the current Crystal Palace star.
It remains to be seen if Gallagher moves to Everton or elsewhere or whether he gets his chance at Chelsea. In the scenario he decides to leave, the Blues will demand a massive fee for one of England’s promising stars.
