Chelsea are reportedly among the clubs eyeing up a move to sign West Bromwich Albion’s youth sensation Jamaldeen Jimoh.
According to The Sun, Chelsea are prepared to further boost their ranks in the youth department by targeting Jamaldeen Jimoh. The 15-year-old West Bromwich Albion youngster is considered one of the most gifted players in his age group and is destined to achieve big things in the future.
A midfielder by trade, Jimoh currently represents the England Under-16 squad that reportedly features four other Chelsea youth players. It has compelled the reigning European champions to launch the pursuit of the West Brom talent, who is still plying his trade with the Baggies’ youth academy, as he is not eligible to play at a higher level.
Nevertheless, Jimoh has mesmerised the onlookers with his performances in the youth leagues, and it is only a matter of time before he gets promoted to the Elite Development League. His progression, though, may not continue at West Brom, especially with Chelsea keen on securing his services.
Driven by the successes of Mason Mount, Reece James, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Trevoh Chalobah, it appears Thomas Tuchel is prepared to double up the club’s youth recruitment drive. They are actively scouring the UK for homegrown talents to further enhance the club’s youth academy that has successfully nurtured multiple talented players in recent years.
While the likes of James and Mount have enjoyed breakthroughs at Chelsea, players like Armando Broja are making an impression away on loan at Southampton and attracting interest from Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich.
Jamaldeen Jimoh, meanwhile, could be another great addition to the Chelsea youth setup. Although the 15-year-old still has a long way to go before he can be considered an option for the senior side, the youngster can certainly make an impression in the Chelsea Under-18 team or even in the Elite Development League next season, donning the Blues kit.
Other than Jimoh, the west Londoners have been eyeing quite a few other talented options in the market, including in-demand Real Madrid ace Miguel Gutierrez. Blackburn Rovers teenager Ashley Phillips is also an option, although the Blues are set to face stiff competition from Manchester United, who are perceived as the front-runners in the race to sign the 16-year-old prospect.
