Ajax are reportedly interested in Tottenham outcast Steven Bergwijn, who could depart the north London club this month.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham could sell 24-year-old Dutch winger Steven Bergwijn this month with Ajax among those interested in signing him.
Antonio Conte is keen on making drastic changes to the playing squad at Tottenham, with several players reportedly dispensable in the current window. The Italian manager has been unhappy about a lack of quality in the team, which is why he has set about bringing the correct players as per his specifications.
While Conte is impressed with many existing stars, particularly those in the attack, Tottenham might heed his directive and look to offload some unwanted ones. With Spurs looking increasingly keen to sign Adama Traore in the current window, a forward from their ranks could see the exit door.
Steven Bergwijn, who has suffered from a loss in form and injuries this season, is not rated by Conte and the Italian is keen to sell the winger this month. Barely any club within England is interested in the 24-year-old, but Dutch giants Ajax are ready to bring him back to the Netherlands.

Once a star for Ajax’s rivals PSV Eindhoven, Bergwijn might be open to returning to his homeland if it leads to regular playing time. At Tottenham, he may not get on the teamsheet regularly under Conte, which could convince the Dutch international to seek a move away from the north London club.
Signed in January 2020, Bergwijn has never really clicked for Spurs. Often restricted to flashes of his talent, the Tottenham faithful will be happy to see the back of the 24-year-old forward if the club can attract a sizeable fee from his sale.
Ajax are not expected to pay over the odds for the winger, and if Tottenham are desperate to get him off their books, the north Londoners could be prepared to take a sizeable hit on their initial investment. Sevilla may have also been interested, although they might cease their pursuit owing to Tottenham’s high asking price.
Bergwijn could be one of many players Spurs are keen on offloading, with Matt Doherty and Japhet Tanganga the others on the list. It remains to be seen what kind of offer Ajax make if their interest in Bergwijn is serious. However, the Dutch star could be on the move, as he does not have a future in north London.
