Jurgen Klopp is reportedly keen on securing a January deal for Jarrod Bowen, with Liverpool considering a €50 million swoop.
According to Fichajes, Liverpool have identified Jarrod Bowen as their priority target in the winter transfer window. The club’s sporting director Michael Edwards is willing to listen to Jurgen Klopp’s request of signing the West Ham United forward, as the German tactician looks to shore up his options in the final third.
Formerly of the Hull City youth academy, Bowen has emerged as one of the hot prospects in the English market due to his rapid rise to prominence at West Ham. He joined the Hammers at the start of 2020, a move that has turned out to be a bargain as the winger has since emerged as one of the best performing attackers in the Premier League.
Indeed, Bowen has notched up 71 competitive appearances for West Ham in less than two years. His tally of 12 goals and 15 assists may not raise too many eyebrows, but his overall contributions have been far greater. The winger has been particularly deadly on the counter, using his pace and dynamism to form a brilliant partnership with Michail Antonio.
Bowen’s proficiency from set-pieces has now put Jurgen Klopp on red alert. The player himself also believed to be a huge admirer of the Liverpool boss, who is apparently desperate for attacking reinforcements in January.
The German is particularly looking for a short-term replacement for Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, as both of the players are set to be unavailable for the early part of 2022 due to AFCON. Klopp believes Bowen can fill this void in the frontline while offering some much-needed competition to the likes of Mane and Diogo Jota on the flanks.
His overall presence in the side could significantly improve Liverpool’s depth in the attacking unit, allowing Klopp to better rotate his squad. However, a major hurdle for Liverpool, who are considering a €50 million for the former Hull City star in January, is that West Ham have no intention to offload their prized asset.
It is apparent that the Hammers are keen on clinching the European spots this season, and for that, they must need to keep hold of their star players. In fact, David Moyes is even looking to strengthen his pack by re-signing Jesse Lingard, this time on a permanent deal.
Liverpool may, therefore, have to set their sights on the other alternatives in their quest to sign a winger in January. They are apparently n the market for Wolves’ Adama Traore, who ideally fits the profile and is also reportedly available in the winter transfer window.
