European Champions Chelsea are putting together a plan to beat Liverpool to the signing of AS Monaco star Aurelien Tchouameni.
According to Teamtalk, European Champions Chelsea are ready to pursue AS Monaco star Aurelien Tchouameni in the January transfer window.
The 21-year-old is one of the best young players in Ligue 1 and continues to go from strength to strength for both club and country. He impressed in N’Golo Kante’s absence during the UEFA Nations League final, playing a key role in Les Bleus’ success in the competition.
Last summer, the Blues were linked with the player but instead chose to sign Spanish international Saul Niguez on loan from Atletico Madrid. The 26-year-old has struggled to impress so far at Stamford Bridge and will need to raise his game considerably for the deal to be made permanent.
In Tchouameni, Chelsea have not just a younger alternative but also one with a higher potential ceiling. The 21-year-old, for his part, appears to be open to moving to Stamford Bridge. Partnering the young gun alongside Kante should give Thomas Tuchel’s side a dominant midfield duo.
The young Frenchman is also attracting attention from Liverpool. The Reds have a number of their midfielders in the thirty-plus age group. They could do with an infusion of youth in the middle of the park. Tchouameni would be an excellent addition to Jurgen Klopp’s side, who will need to rebuild sooner rather than later.
Pairing Tchouameni with Fabinho could give the Merseysiders a sensational double pivot in central midfield. This could very well give them more freedom to push their wing-backs further up the field. If anything, the youngster could be a key cog in Klopp’s next great Liverpool side.
The English duo will also have competition from some of Europe’s biggest names, all of who have been linked with the Monaco star. AC Milan, Inter Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, and Juventus have been credited with interest in Tchouameni recently.
Chelsea already have a couple of excellent young midfielders out on loan. Billy Gilmour is rated highly at Stamford Bridge while Conor Gallagher is earning rave reviews at Crystal Palace. The prospect of also adding Tchouameni to the mix will give the Stamford Bridge outfit a plethora of young midfield talents who can develop together for years to come.
A deal to sign the player in January but have him join up next summer is something that the Blues can explore. This will ensure Monaco can see out the season without having to worry about replacing a key player in January. Kante and Jorginho have been sensational under Tuchel. However, neither player is getting any younger.
In Tchouameni, who is valued at around £40 million, the Blues could very well have the ideal player to take the veteran duo’s place in the middle of the park.
