Chelsea have reportedly entered the chase for Bayern Munich contract rebel Kingsley Coman, also a target for Barcelona.
According to a report by German publication Sport Bild, the race to sign Kingsley Coman continues to heat up with each passing day. The Bayern Munich contract rebel is the subject of interest from Chelsea and Barcelona, among other clubs.
Kingsley Coman joined Bayern Munich from Juventus in the summer of 2015 and has since become a key figure for the Bavarian giants. Bayern initially signed the French winger on loan before turning his stay into a permanent one two years later, and the Bundesliga heavyweights would not have regretted their decision.
To date, Coman has made 210 appearances for Bayern Munich, garnering 43 goals and 51 assists in the process. However, the German champions are in a precarious position over his long-term future, with the 25-year-old in the final year of his contract with the club. Such a situation has piqued the interest of Chelsea and Barcelona.
Chelsea hold a long-standing interest in Coman and have been linked with him for quite some time now. The eagerness to sign the Frenchman makes sense as well, even though Thomas Tuchel has a well-stocked attacking unit at his disposal.
However, Hakim Ziyech has recently been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid, while there has also been some speculation surrounding Timo Werner’s future. With that in mind, Coman is a viable target for Chelsea, who are battling Barcelona in pursuit of the Bayern Munich contract rebel.
According to recent reports, incoming Barcelona manager Xavi is keen on bringing Coman onboard at Camp Nou. And with Ousmane Dembele picking up yet another injury, the need to sign a wide attacker has accentuated, thereby necessitating the arrival of someone like Coman.
For their part, Bayern Munich are attempting to tie Coman down to a new contract, although they have been unsuccessful in doing so thus far. With his future increasingly uncertain, it remains to be seen if either of Chelsea and Barcelona can secure his services on a Bosman move or if they make their move in the January window itself.
