Newcastle United are reportedly in the market for Real Madrid star Eden Hazard, with a January move becoming a possibility.
According to El Chiringuito, Newcastle United are eyeing a sensational swoop for Eden Hazard. The Premier League outfit is ready to unleash the cash in the upcoming January transfer window and fully revamp the squad under the leadership of a new manager.
The Real Madrid attacker has been identified as an ideal option as the new owners look for a marquee that can serve as the face of the new-look Newcastle United team. El Chiringuito further claims that a January move for Hazard could be a possibility as well, with Los Blancos open to a sale.
Formerly of LOSC Lille, Hazard has endured an unfortunate spell at Santiago Bernabeu following his big-money move in 2019. He was brought in as a direct replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo after the club suffered a disastrous 2018/19 campaign.
Hazard’s stint in La Liga, though, has been marred by injuries. The Belgian has suffered more times on the sidelines in just two years than during his entire Chelsea career. Hazard himself has found it difficult to endure the injuries and has not been the same player since joining Real Madrid.
Real Madrid, therefore, are ready to cash in on Hazard in the winter market. It appears Los Blancos are trying to recoup a fraction of the big sum they spent on the player in 2019 and use it to fund moves for next summer’s top targets like Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe.
Newcastle United are ready to take the gamble on Hazard despite his injury problems over the years. It is evident that the Magpies highly rate the Belgian’s impeccable record in English football coupled with his experience at the highest level, which can truly add another dimension to their attacking unit.
However, Newcastle United are not the only club interested in bringing Hazard back to the Premier League. His former club Chelsea have emerged as an option, with Roman Abramovich being a massive fan of the Belgian international. The attacker, after all, had won two Premier League titles at Chelsea while making over 350 competitive appearances.
It remains to be seen how much Real Madrid value their attacking asset, though. Recent reports suggest that Chelsea are willing to fork out €50 million in next summer’s transfer window. One would imagine Newcastle could come up with a better offer in January, making St. James’ Park a likely destination for the winger.
